              Sunset at Sandia Crest, NM
After sundown we tried to listen for Saw-whet owls, but heard none.

  Three-toed Woodpeckers
We had three of them on this one trunk at one point, drumming loudly. |

  Pine Siskin
A couple of them were feeding from grasses. |

  Pueblo Style
I just love the style of the New Mexico buildings and homes. The houses blend right into the mountains and do not distract the view |

  Hummers, hummers and more hummers...
At least 200 of them! This was one feeder out of seven. The three species were Rufous, Broad-tailed and Calliope. During peak season, while we were there, they go through 50lbs of sugar a WEEK! |

  Broad-tailed Hummingbird.
The hummers would sit on the bush a foot in front of us, to wait their turn at the feeders. |

  Calliope Hummingbird.
A male, drinking at the feeder. You can see how much smaller he is compared to the Broad-tailed behind him. |

   Male Calliope
Such a tiny hummer. The Calliopes were in the smallest numbers at the feeders, Rufous being a little more common, with Broad-tailed being the majority. |

  Rufous Hummingbird
This male was just the most beautiful orange color all over, with his bright red thoat. When he flew around you couldn't miss him!
